Emerald Green Short Edgy Hairstyle
Instagram @phiasalon

#1: Emerald Green Short Edgy Hairstyle

I would describe this as an emerald green pixie. I love how the green is jewel toned and rich green is definitely one of the harder colors to pull off if you don’t get the vibrancy right. Also, I love the diversity within the style. We didn’t have to cut any of her long hair to create this illusion of a short hairstyle. So when she takes it out, she will still have her long hair just melted into green in an ombre style. It’s so fun to be able to switch up your look without the commitment.

The green is great for someone with a funky style or bold personality. Expect to turn heads and be approached left and right when you are rocking any fun color in your hair! Always keep in mind that vibrant “fashion” colors are going to be a lot more high maintenance than natural hues. Say goodbye to hot showers, make dry shampoo your best friend, and come in every four to six weeks to touch it up. All in all, it’s totally worth the extra maintenance. Once you go unicorn you don’t go back!

Edgy Color Blocked Long Hairstyle

#2: Edgy Color Blocked Long Hair

The balance between length and layers in this long hairstyle creates stunning dimension and movement. By incorporating longer lengths, this style allows for natural texture and bounce, making it perfect for women with wavy or curly hair.

#3: Black Hair with Red and Orange Money Pieces

Mixing black hair with red and orange highlights will add a bold touch to any hairstyle. The facial sections of the bright color make a stunning contrast with the dark hair, giving it a unique look. The highlighted black hairstyle suits women who want to make a fashion statement. By adding these bold highlights, your hair will gain depth and produce a dynamic style. Remember to use color-safe products and avoid over-styling with heat to maintain color intensity. Additionally, you may need regular coloring to keep the highlights fresh and bright.

Edgy Piecey Shag Mullet with an Orange Skunk Stripe
Instagram @aaashleee

#4: Piecey Shag Mullet with an Orange Skunk Stripe

The piecey shag mullet with an orange skunk stripe is a unique hairstyle. It has textured layers that add movement and volume to your hair. The layers are designed to create volume and enhance your hair’s natural texture, making it more dynamic and exciting. The striking orange stripe in this hairstyle is bold and edgy. This hairstyle is great for those with fine or thin hair because it gives the illusion of thicker strands. To style it, begin with damp hair and apply a volumizing mousse for added body and definition. Use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment to boost your hair’s natural texture while maintaining its shape. Finish by gently tousling your hair with your fingers for a piecey and effortless effect.

#5: Super Edgy Mid-Length Undercut

Ask for a super edgy mid-length undercut. A trendy two-tone color on a super textured lob will help you achieve a modern, edgy style. This cut is perfect if you have thick hair. I do not suggest an undercut for those with thin hair desiring a longer bob. The ends may have a ragged look. However, for short bobs, an undercut could be beneficial.

Edgy Modern Mohawk with Shaved Sides Hairstyle
Instagram @titan_barber

#6: Modern Mohawk with Shaved Sides

A Mohawk hairstyle with shaved sides gives an edgy, artistic touch. If you decide on this hairstyle, remember to schedule regular salon visits to maintain its neat look.

#7: Creative Asymmetric Cut

Try an asymmetrical haircut if you like to wear your hair edgy while still keeping some length. Try to avoid over-styling this look, as you want to keep it super lived-in and not overdone.

#8: Undercut with Shaved Sides for Long Hair

Try an undercut with shaved sides for long hair if you want something edgy. I suggest this for people with a lot of hair because they usually don’t miss what’s gone. If you shave any part of your head, expect a 3-6 week touch-up to keep it clean.

Edgy Punk Rock Platinum Mullet
Instagram @anhcotran

#9: Punk Rock Platinum Mullet

If a fashion-forward cut is what you’re looking for, try a platinum mullet. This edgy look makes you stand out in a crowd. Styling a mullet is best with lots of texture paste and your fingers. When styling, have fun and mess up those locks.

Edgy Bright Yellow Mohawk for Women
Instagram @titan_barber

#10: Bright Yellow Mohawk

A bright yellow mohawk isn’t for the faint of heart, it’s for ladies who want to embrace their edgy, rocker personality. Dyeing your hair a bright yellow is a bold move and will brighten up your entire appearance. Remember, colors like this require a bit of upkeep, so be sure you have the budget and time to maintain this hair color and style. Make sure you go to a stylist or barber that is experienced in doing a tapered, disconnected mohawk.

Edgy Tie Dye Hairstyle

#11: Tie Dye Hairstyle

Check out this trendy tie-dye hairstyle! To keep your hair looking vibrant, avoid washing your fashion-colored hair in hot water. It will prevent your color from prematurely fading.

A jaw-length choppy bob is best paired with a balayage to add dimension.

Edgy Amazing Colored Mid-Length Hair

#13: Amazing Colored Mid-Length Hair

If you’re edgy and always on top of the trends, try getting a dual color. This is not for a client who is not willing to be in the salon regularly. Don’t forget to ask for the at-home products that are needed to keep this color vibrant!

Edgy Medium-Length Rainbow Hair with Shaved Designs
Instagram @hairgod_zito

#14: Medium-Length Rainbow Hair with Shaved Designs

If you are searching for unusual, try a medium-length rainbow hairstyle with shaved designs. You’ll definitely want to find a hair artist that specializes in these trendy styles because they can be difficult to achieve. Also, keep in mind the bright colors wash out quickly and can be high maintenance. So do your homework and find the right stylist to help you on this journey.

#15: Get-Noticed Fauxhawk

Let your creativity go wild and turn it into reality like this super awesome fohawk! It’s one of the edgiest haircuts you’ll see here! An eye-catching piece of art that only suits those who are brave and confident to rock this one-of-a-kind hairstyle.

Aquamarine Edgy Cut

#16: Aquamarine Edgy Cut

Edgy cuts have endless possibilities. Your stylist must be extremely precise to achieve such an asymmetrical and geometrical cut. Aquamarine coloring completes the look.

Super Short Bobs
Instagram @gbhdesign

#17: Super Short Bob

You’ll love the sleek, edgy style of a super short bob. The elevated back will give your bob a modern shape and add a long side bang for an extra punch. You’ll want to ask for seamless layers that blow out smoothly and shine. A short bob will suit most face shapes, and you can always add more volume for width if you have long features. Your blowout will be simple with a smoothing serum and a large round brush.

Another easy to create look, this style can be obtained just by doing a loose fishtail and keeping your long flirty side fringe loose. It works beautifully with long balayaged hair that can give contrast to the pieces.

#26: Long Messy Beachy Hair

Q&A with style creator, Madison Lea Ann
Hairstylist @ Tony’s Hair Co. in The Colony, TX

How would you describe this look?

I really love this look just for the pure fact that it was so bold, but yet looked so natural. I took her from a grown out balayage from back in April. She told me she wanted to be super blond but still liked that when it was growing out there was no define line and that she couldn’t tell it was growing out so fast. So I decided to do part balayage and part foliage. I toned it with the Shades EQ line which I love because it always helps pull together a color. Now, cut wise we didn’t do much because she likes her hair long so I just trimmed up her ends and did layers, nothing fancy.

For styling, I always put a detangler in all my clients’ hair I’ve done color services on whether or not it’s super tangled. I also use a blow dry product in! It’s always different, just depends on what I want to see for end results. I used a 1-inch curling iron for this look as well and then I ran my fingers through it to break up the curls for her finishing look.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Almost anyone who can pull off being a blond can wear this. Now, if you style your hair every day or even pretty often that’s where we get into at-home care. You have to use good professional shampoo and conditioner if you want it to stay in good shape. Because if you buy from a grocery store let’s say, for example, I can’t assure you it’ll do the job and I also can’t assure you that what’s in it is actually true. (Sulfate free, and color-protected shampoos are the most important to have). Also, sometimes with certain people’s hair, it doesn’t hold the “toner” as long so I always suggest a purple or blue shampoo for at-home keep.

Now leave-in conditioner is always a good idea if you’re this blond because you want it to stay hydrated and moisturized so it doesn’t get dried out and feel brittle. A heat protectant along with it is even better! Always have a heat protectant if you’re going to be styling your hair with any type of hot tools. The upkeep on this look is actually quite easy if you have all the right products! You can do so much with this look as well. Wear it natural, curl it, and even straighten it. You can wear it in braids or a top knot. It’s such a pretty natural bold look that you can do about anything with it and people will still compliment you on it!

Big Bold Afro

#27: Big Bold Afro

Q&A with style creator, Aggie
Freelance Hair Artist in PG County, MD

How would you describe this look?

This is a huge purple afro hairstyle with messy kinky curls. I wanted it to look like a 5-day old twist out. The best thing about this look is how big, bold, and vibrant it is. I cut and styled it to frame my face and also to bring out my facial features.

Anyone considering this look has to be willing to wear it with confidence. It is very “out there” and you’ll draw a lot of attention so just be ready for that. As far as maintenance and products, water is your best friend. Just spray it with water, finger detangle, and clip off the stray bits. To achieve this look, I used 5 packs of purple crochet hair. I also brushed it out to make it less defined and much bigger. I have a round face and I love framing my hair around it. If you have a long face, a middle part will look great. Side parts will also work for anyone if you are unsure how to style/frame it.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This hairstyle doesn’t need a special occasion, it could be your everyday look especially if you love playing with colors and big hair. It also works for festivals, artistic events, and photo shoots. Remember, water is your best friend! A bit of leave in conditioner is fine as well, just don’t overdo it. Last but not least, wear it with confidence!

Jet Black Retro Curls

#28: Jet Black Retro Curls

Q&A with style creator, Ronella Santhumayor
Freelance Hairstylist in Mumbai, India

How would you describe this look?

This particular style is one of my favorites. It’s a very boho, retro like hair. You can wear it as a casual hairstyle or can team it up with a hair-tie or bandana to give it that extra edgy retro look. It works well with someone who has long hair with medium to a thick density that isn’t too layered. Her hair has a dark tint almost chocolate brown like which goes well with her skin tone. However, lighter hues or highlighted hair work well with this kind of style.

Any advice for someone considering it?

If you are looking at creating such a hairstyle for yourself, you should have hair that isn’t too straight, heavy or limp. The hair should have a slight grit which can hold curls. To create that grit, one should prep the hair well.

Start by applying a small amount of hair mousse evenly to damp hair (I use the Schwarzkopf Taft hair mousse.) Then blow dry the hair to completely dry. I used a 22-inch barrel tong and vertically tonged the hair in one direction and away from the face. Finish with some hair or shine spray. Toss your hair around a bit scrunching it with your fingers and voila you have big retro hair. Perfect for a cocktail party or a night out.

#29: Retro Beehive

Q&A with style creator, Tess Bradley
Stylist @ Douglas J Salon in Rochester Hills, MI

How would you describe this look?

I love how dressed up women used to get for everyday life. My goal for this look was to use hair color and wardrobe to modernize a retro shape creating an updated version of that 1950’s everyday glamour. The greatest part of this look is how the vibrant hair color really highlights the bold shape.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This style is bound to turn heads but can be customized to suit many different face shapes, hair textures, and personal styles. The height in this style will elongate round or pear face shapes but could be less exaggerated to suit longer face shapes as well.

I used a hair pad to create extra fullness, height, and longevity. This technique could also be used for clients with finer hair to create the illusion of more fullness. Thick-haired clients could use their own hair as hair padding.

Someone with a retro/rockabilly look could rock this every day, wrapping it in a scarf at night to help it last the whole week. This would also suit someone with more of a classic style, especially for a wedding or special occasion.

It would be difficult to achieve this look on hair shorter than the shoulders but a talented stylist with a passion for hair styling has lots of creative solutions. I would call around to local salons or search Instagram to find a stylist who is passionate about classic styling techniques. If you are thinking of trying something new, I say go for it! Styling is a great way to try something new and express your style to the world. Why not have fun with it!

#30: Incredibly Shaggy Mid-Length Cut for Older Women

Q&A with style creator, Sandra Ulloa
Stylist @ The Lab A Salon in San Diego, CA

How would you describe this look?

There are so many variations of the shag these days. I cater to a lot of artistic types and hand full of musicians these days. This shag, in particular, that’s on Ame is a disconnected one. Due to the fact that she has finer hair through the sides and back, I can’t take too much length or layers. She’s ever so slightly top heavy.

Any advice for someone considering it?

I recommend this type of disconnected shag on finer to medium hair types and if you don’t want to spend too much time in the morning styling it. I do mostly dry cutting. Her hair is unforgiving so the soft texture is key, no bold lines whatsoever. I love dry cutting. It’s like tailoring a cut to your head.

Color: Balayage Wella Lights 20v with B3, L’Oreal Majiblonde 20 V with B3, L’Oreal 6n + 7bg-10v

I look at my clients’ fashion, but honestly, the girls who request this kind of cut normally is fashion conscious already. I’ve never had a woman who approached me with this cut who couldn’t pull it off already. I mean this cut goes with very well with high fashion, punk, rocker, boho chic, and trendy, all of the above fits into a shag.

#31: Long Asymmetric Cut

Q&A with style creator, Erika Volivitch
Hairstylist @ Hair Design by Erika Volivitch in Orange County, CA

How would you describe this look?

I had so much fun doing this cut and color. I love the asymmetrical haircut because it makes it stand out and is different from what’s “normal”. The cut looks super cute both straight and curled!

This client has been doing this color for a long time because she rocks it so good! She’s got that sassy personality to go with this “sassy” haircut. I use Keune color for her deep red base color and then Pravana for her bright red ends. Now for this color, I did have to use bleach on her ends to create the bright red balayage look. But as long as your client is ok to keep up with possibly some treatments at home to keep those ends healthy then go for it! Her base is also red but a deep red.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Her face shape is more oval/diamond. Short haircuts look great so their face doesn’t look even longer with long haircuts. Her hair is naturally pretty straight with just a slight wave to it, so for her, it’s pretty easy to go straight or curled. Because it’s short for this client, her curls stay in really well with little to no hairspray.

She’s on a good regimen at home using Keune styling products: 2 phase moisturizing spray (for damp hair after shower, before blow-dry) & shine serum (before or after blow-dry). She also uses a Keune deep conditioning treatment once a week at home: Keune Care Line Vital Nutrition. For shampoo and conditioner, she uses Keune Care Line Vital Nutrition. She’s a client who is good about taking care of her hair at home, and in turn, keeping her hair color last longer in between salon visits! Upkeep on her hair is a salon visit about every 5-6 weeks.

Long Shag with Micro Bangs
Instagram @margeauxagogo

#32: Long Shag with Micro Bangs

This haircut is a messy lived-in shag. The greatest thing about this cut is that it gives the model a high fashion edgy look without the need for excessive styling.

The cut is really versatile and customizable for any head of hair! It’s also very easy for you to style, and it’s definitely a “get up and go” kind of look. Not to mention, it’s a really fun way to mix things up with long hair!

Style your natural waves using Osis ‘Bouncy curls’ and ‘Tame wild’ and diffuse. Then take a flat iron and perfect some little pieces to give a more polished look.

The main finishing product to use is a texture powder from Osis called ‘Dust It’. Use it to fluff up your hair, sprinkling it over your curls and bangs to really give her that messy “rock n roll” vibe.

#33: Modern French Bob

Q&A with style creator, Danielle Badger
Hair Designer @ This or Die Salon in Los Angeles, CA

How would you describe this look?

This short haircut is a Mod Bob with a straight across fringe. What I love most about this is that you can make it sleek, mysterious, fun, and playful (like in the photo). This particular client cut off about 8 inches of outgrown color, and with a proper cut, it looks like she just received fresh balayage color.

Any advice for someone considering it?

If you are thinking about hair trends like this, ask yourself – are you a fun and funky person with an edge? This look can be worn by the majority of people. It’s just a matter of how you style it and how short/long the fringe is. The fringe makes it edgier if it’s short and bold versus a longer bang.

#34: Messy Pixie with Long Side Bangs

Try an edgy pastel pixie with an undercut. It’s soft and attractive short hair style and perfect for the girl-on-the-go!

#35: Edgy Indie Razor Haircut

Q&A with style creator, Yvette Angelique
Stylist @ Yvette Angelique Sola Studio in Sunnyvale, CA

How would you describe this look?

This is an edgy, indie, razor haircut with blowout style using a flat iron. The color is a minimal blend ombré with an aquamarine combo. I love that it looks effortless!

Any advice for someone considering it?

The big thing to consider would be the maintenance of the color. Look for products and learn how to take care of it at home.

Use a color treatment paraben sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and also a protein hair mask once or twice a week depending on the health of your hair. Wash with cool water 2-3 times or less a week.

Apply a heat protectant styling product before subjecting to heat (blow dry, flat iron, curling iron, etc), and keep the heat low. Finish with an alcohol-free hairspray. You can use dry shampoo in between washing.

This look is for the non-conservative type of girls.

#36: Not So Mellow Yellow

This look is fun, edgy, and unique. It’s definitely a “not so mellow yellow” hair color.

Not a lot of people can wear yellow hair. Women wanting this color should know that their hair needs to first be lifted to a pale yellow and treated with many different types of reconstructing and conditioning services prior to applying the creative color.

Aftercare consists of using color-protecting shampoo along with using heat protective products for styling.

#37: Teal and Black Asymmetrical Cut

Q&A with style creator, Andrea Valle
Hairstylist @ Hair Loft Studio in New Orleans, LA

How would you describe this look?

I would describe this look as powerful, strong, and fierce, yet still feminine. She came in with one side cut short and the other side longer hitting her shoulder, which I immediately loved. I cleaned up the existing cut and created an angle with graduation for fullness on the longer side. She had the best face shape for it.

I tapered the shorter side, so blending and connecting the two sides was my absolute favorite part. Most of all, she wore it with pure confidence.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Edgy hairstyles for short hair like this are for people who are looking to make a statement and aren’t afraid to be bold! Short cuts like these are definitely high maintenance when it comes to keeping the shorter side looking fresh.

As for styling, I believe it’s pretty low maintenance. Just add some curls and a little texture spray and carry on!

Edgy Asymmetrical Pixie Hairstyle
Instagram @dudkazhenya

#38: Edgy Asymmetrical Pixie

I would describe this look as an edgy hairstyle twist on a pixie cut. It’s very versatile as well! In this photo, we have it smoothed out with some texture on top, but you can also add a fun loose wave or even blow it out and comb it back for a fun pompadour! You can change the part or wear it flat and smooth. The looks are endless!

This pixie is asymmetrical which is my favorite thing about it. The long fringe in the front against the tight fade really makes for a fun and edgy look! This cut is best achieved with a more dense hair texture. If you’re not looking to spend all morning on your hair routine, quick and easy hairstyles like this one are a great option!

#39: Edgy Asymmetrical Bob

I would describe this look as an edgy asymmetrical bob with a shaved side. The first thing I would tell a guest interested in this haircut is that the haircut is a commitment. Contrary to popular belief, edgy short hairstyles are actually more maintenance than long hair! A client should come in to get edged up every two weeks to keep it looking clean, especially with a shaved side, and come in for regular haircuts every 4 to 6 weeks.

Because the guest pictured has fine hair, I used the Paul Mitchell Invisible Wear line. We started with the shampoo and conditioner to add volume and shine. For styling, I used the Invisible Wear Volume Whip and finished her look with the Invisible Wear Undone Texture Hairspray. A texture hairspray is a MUST with any edgy hairstyles!

Vibrant and Fierce Pink Pastel Blunt Cut
Instagram @elgon_bih

#40: Vibrant & Fierce Pink Pastel Pixie

I would describe this look as a very edgy, “be your own style” look. My favorite part about it is how you can’t miss this person when you pass them. It is vibrant and fierce. If you are someone who has flexibility in your hairstyle and you like messy finishes as much as clean, this look could be a good option for you. This cut would be great for straight, wavy, curly, or fine to medium hair types. This style would be great for diamond, heart, oval, round, or square face shapes.

Edgy Undercut Design

#41: Edgy Undercut Design

Q&A with style creator, Jane Yi
Hairstylist @ Society A Salon in Sumner, WA

How would you describe this look?

This look is bold, edgy, and definitely a head turner! I love how it gives someone the ability to change up their look by simply throwing their hair up in a bun. As soon as the hair is taken down, you can’t see the design!

Any advice for someone considering it?

This look can be achieved on pretty much any hair length, type, and texture. It can start as high or low as you want, but I usually recommend a one, two or three guard on clippers for the perfect length to create a design. You can go longer if not.

Someone with extremely thick hair that wants to get rid of bulk can rock an undercut! I’ve also given mini undercuts to my short bob clients who have low hairlines. This is a little more upkeep because it’s so short and grows back so quickly, but that just means you can start fresh and try different designs!

Fruit Stripe Gum hairstyle
Instagram @lx3zombies

#42: Fruit Stripe Gum

Q&A with style creator, Melissa Maria
Owner @ Seven Sins Salon in Lakewood, CO

How would you describe this look?

My favorite thing about this color in particular is that it is on a male client of mine. For years the beauty industry has shamed men and women for going out of the box when it comes to hair color. This color has boosted the confidence of this client. To have someone leave who is utterly happy and has the courage to rock a color so bright, warm, and vibrant such as this makes me feel altruistic and accomplished.

My salon is a place where women and men of all ages should feel comfortable about their appearance, even if that means thinking outside of the box! Who wants to be “normal” anyway? We didn’t have much of a plan for this color, so to describe it is a little difficult. I had to compare, I would say it’s like Fruit Stripe Gum on acid.

Any advice for someone considering it?

The advice I would give to someone who’s considering going with a colorful look would be to be mindful of upkeep and maintenance. A color like this can take anywhere from three to seven hours to create, depending on the length of your hair and how light we are able to get. In order to do colors such as these, lightening the hair past orange to a pale white yellow base (with no damage) is key!

Special Effects direct dyes are not permanent! They are semi permanent which means they do not penetrate the cuticle of the hair. It only stains and sits on top of the cuticle, meaning the color lasts only about three to six weeks. Maintenance on these colors is not the easiest. If you want these colors to last as long as possible, then you must wash in cold water, wash only one to two times a week, use a Sulfate Free Shampoo, and a Glycerin-Free Conditioner, stay out of chlorinated pools, and avoid heat styling.

Anyone can wear a color like this, but the most important things to remember are quality and value. You must find a hairstylist who has experience in conducting colors such as these and never expect to have something done like this last minute. It is always very crucial to have a consultation and a clear understanding of the process, how much you are going to be spending, and the pros and cons of having a color like this.

Edgy Purple and Green Undercut

#43: Edgy Purple and Green Undercut

Q&A with style creator, Arienne Alvarado
Aveda Certified & Licenced Cosmetologist @ Ari’s Hair Lab in Mathis, TX

How would you describe this look?

If I had to put a name to this style I would call it “Edgy Elegance”. Even though the colors are a little unorthodox, I believe that if the hair is done well and it’s styled well, there is no reason why having a color in your hair that is not a “natural” hair color should be deemed unprofessional. With the right attire and the right makeup, you can easily take this look from everyday wear to a night out. It’s all about what you pair with it that can give the look its edge or it’s elegance.

The one thing I love about this look is the colors. The effect they have on each other and the style itself is incredible. The four colors that we applied in my client’s hair give her style depth and dimension that actually helped conture her mohawk in a way that having one solid color could not do.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This look in particular is something that can be achieved by anyone that’s willing to take the time to maintain a mohawk. Many people believe that it’s all about face shape when it comes to what kind of style you should have. For me, that’s not the case. I believe that if you have the confidence to rock your look, then rock your look!

When it comes to the maintenance of having a mohawk, you have to be willing to either learn how to shave the sides of your head, or be willing to come into the salon at least twice a month to keep your style looking its best. When it comes to the products you would need for this, having one or two just isn’t going to cut it. For this client’s look, we used Redken Pillow Proof Express Primer to blow dry, our salon’s line of thermal primer for her curls, Play Dirty texturizing spray once it was curled, and finished the look with Spray and Stay Firm hold hairspray.

This look in particular is fairly easy for her to maintain because of the fact that she is very thick and coarse curly hair. For fine or straight hair, having a mohawk is a little harder to keep up with. You’d have to train the hair to fall a certain way and use different products.

I always try to encourage my customers to take a chance on a new hairstyle because you never know if it’s going to change your look or your style for the better. One thing is for sure though, you’ll always wonder what you would look like in that cute little haircut if you don’t give it a chance!

Super Short Blonde and Jet Black Pixie

#44: Super Short Blonde and Jet Black Pixie

I would describe this look as a two-toned, edgy textured pixie cut. My advice for someone considering this look is to be fun and willing to go outside the box. This is a very low-maintenance haircut because you only have to blow it dry, add some texture paste to break it up, then piece it apart. If you like looking different, love texture and want your hair out of your face, then edgy hairstyles like this textured pixie is for you!

This is a truly unique, funky edgy look! The radiant vibes leave one contemplating whether to look at the color or the haircut first. The color is mesmerizing in the way that it melts to this multi-dimensional mossy green, which is my favorite part of the whole style.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

To maintain and recreate this look, I recommend using a texture spray such as Shu Uemura Texture Wave. The texture spray is what provides the hair with a full and layered look for this particular style.

I also recommend having an oil on hand, preferably Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil. This particular oil will do a number of things such as give the hair a polished finish, bring in the shine, and accentuate the color.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This is a style that can be glamorized by anyone, depending on the mood and feel of the individual. The color is exquisite and can give off a number of facades. It can play the part of being the spotlight of an individual’s style, or be relegated to toning down a style that needs a more deepening tone.

The bangs are employed to bring out the features in a more narrow-faced client, while the short layers provide a plethora of volume for tasteful and edgy hairstyles like this one.

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I was inspired by Anime for this look and I think it’s a daring and edgy hairstyle.

What I love most about this look is that it really provokes people’s mind. Some love it, some hate it, and some grow to love it.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I used a powder (Kinki’s Super Power Powder) for a dry and rough base, as well as a matte clay (Lock Stock & Barrel’s Ruck A) to give it more hold. I advise not to wash this hair more than two times a week and really rock that out of bed look.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this style to my more daring customers, the ones who are not afraid to stand out and be different. Having thicker hair is also a plus. This technique of layering could also be used on a lob at the front. You could really accentuate the layers by using different colors for each layer.

My client on the photo has been rocking a bob for some time and was looking for something different. The front is a classic asymmetrical bob which makes the back stand out even more. This client is in her 60s and way cooler than most of my clients in their 20s!

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

This look is edgy, editorial and fashion forward. It’s all about versatility and texture.

My favorite thing about this look is the contrast. It’s smooth and sleek around the face with lots of layers and textures making up the back.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

Since this look is all about texture, I would definitely recommend a texturizing spray or paste for styling, as well as a strong hold hairspray to hold everything in place. As for maintenance, a volumizing shampoo and conditioner would work beautifully.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This look is for the edgy client that’s looking for the perfect alternative hairstyle.

#48: Two-Toned Medium-Length Hair

Opt for a two-toned medium-length hair style that is sure to turn heads. This high contrast of rich brunette and platinum blonde are a great combo for a high fashion hair color look. Maintenance is pretty high on this, about 4 to 6 weeks, to maintain the super blonde look. At-home care is a purple shampoo to make sure that blonde stays nice and bright before your next salon visit.

#49: The Edgiest Short Crop

A short crop is once of the edgiest styles you can try. You’ll need frequent haircuts but it will all be worth it when you barely have to do anything to your hair every morning. Massage a dime-sized dollop of Redken Aerate allover for volume and texture.
